Please look below for some more information about your day:
1. Private Tour of Stonehenge:
Starting the day at the most famous stone circle in the world, we ensure an early start to avoid the big crowds at Stonehenge and be amongst the very first visitors at the sight. Your expert guide will escort you to stones and enlighten you on all the mysteries, theories and history behind this fascinating monument.
2. Private Tour of Woodhenge:
Just 5 minutes from Stonehenge is an equally interesting sight called Woodhenge, which in recent years has been heavily linked with Stonehenge rituals which may have taken place for the Winter and Summer Solstice. For more information about Woodhenge, visit our page on Ancient Wessex.
3. Visit Bath:
Bath remains the only city in England to be granted Unesco World Heritage status. This is not only down to the cities ancient heritage with The Roman Baths Museum, but also for its complete renovation in the 18th Century under the work of architect John Nash and party planner Beau Nash.
The Romans settled in Britain from 43AD, creating their own city of Bath which they called Aquae Sulis. For almost 400 years, Bath remained an important settlement where Romans would gather to enjoy the natural spring water and thank the Romano-Celtic Goddess Sulis Minerva for her gift to society. Much of this temple and bathing complex still remains today, and attracts millions of tourists every year.
After 2 visits from Queen Anne in 1702 and 1703, Bath was entirely rebuilt following a resurgence of interest for its curative properties. Richard ‘Beau’ Nash set up the Pump Rooms and Royal Mineral Water Hospital, attracting nobility far and wide to seek remedies for common illnesses such as gout and rheumatism.
4. Panoramic Tour of Bath:
Upon our departure of this magnificent city, your driver/guide will take you on a Panoramic Tour of Bath. Here you will see John Wood’s famous designs of The Queen Square and The Circus. The pano finishes at The Royal Crescent where you may wish to exit the vehicle for a short photostop.
